Expanding Market Territory - NewBranch Total Time 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours—12 to 60 Participants (up to 200 participants with multiple sets) Themes: Leadership, change, communicating vision, trust & risk, delegation, and two way communications (fact, inferences and assumptions). This activity provides participants an opportunity to explore how different styles of communication, leadership and decision making impact an entire organization. Leadership and middle management teams have the latitude to use different styles of leadership and management to complete the project through field teams. The total group is divided into sub-groups of 12 to 60 participants. An organization consisting of a Leadership Team, Middle Management Team(s) and Field Team(s) is created. A photograph of a "New Branch" is provided to the Leadership Team. The Middle Management Team is provided with brief information on the structures. The Field Team is provide with resources but no information. All teams are located in separate areas. Two way radios are used to relay information between mid level team members and the lower level team. Working under impaired conditions and using limited resources the Field Team must attempt to understand and construct a new branch facility that exactly replicates the vision of the Leadership Team. Debriefs are typically conducted within the sub-groups. A total group meeting can be held at the end to share key learning points. |
